Author 10Q: Whitney K-E

Today I am delighted to share an Author 10Q interview with exciting new Aussie author Whitney K-E. Her debut novel What Happens in Ireland is out now from Secret Cravings Publishing.

MG: What made you want to be a writer?

WK-E: I don’t think I ever just decided to be a writer. I just became one. I was going through a pretty rough patch in my life and I needed an outlet. I didn’t exactly put my emotions into the novel, but rather the strength of my emotions fuelled my desire to write this story. I needed an escape. And what better place to escape to than into your imagination?

MG: Who were your early influences?

WK-E: I have so many. I don’t read as much as I used to but my major influences were Rachael Treasure,
Eloisa James and Kresley Cole. Such different genres and authors, but they have allowed me to explore a few genres.

MG: What influences you now?

WK-E: Every book I read and every moment of experience I have, influence my writing. My writing is a part of me and anything that affects me, affects it.

MG: What is your favourite movie and why?

WK-E: I always struggle with these questions. Movies, music, actors ect… I can never just pick one haha. But, I can tell you today, I’m in the mood to watch Leap Year. I love the characters in this film. And Declan is a heartthrob. I love a cheeky Irishman.

MG: If you could have a coffee chat with anyone, who would it be?

WK-E: Gosh… To choose. Can’t I have a tea party haha?

MG: What are you working on now?

WK-E: Edits for the second novel in my series, Deceive Me in Ireland.

MG: Who is your hero in real life?

WK-E: My friends and family. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

MG: Tell us about What Happens in Ireland in 50 words.

WK-E: Australian, Kate Barrow meets a handsome Irishman in a Dublin bar who later reveals himself to be her future manager-in-co on a thoroughbred stud in Killarney. Jack’s unlike any man Kate has ever encountered and despite her reservations, Kate soon finds out that the Irish charm is hard to resist.

MG: What sparked the idea for this story?

WK-E: A two year long wait for me to make my trip to Ireland. I was so excited and my muse was awakened. After going there, she’s been busier than ever!

MG: I know you love horses – what brought this about?

WK-E: Haha, apparently I was born horse-mad. I used to ask for the barbies dolls with the horses and used to ditch the barbies and just play with the horses. I begged my parents for 15 years for a horse and I guess, my horse has become a part of my life. I just love ‘em haha.

MG: Thanks Whitney for taking the time for Author 10Q. Be sure to go check out Whitney's book! You can buy it here.

Ever wondered what happens in Ireland?

When Australian, Kate Barrow, meets a handsome Irishman in a Dublin bar, she has no idea that he’s about to turn her world upside-down and inside-out.

In Ireland to take on a position on a thoroughbred stud, Kate is shocked when her manager-in-co reveals himself to be the same man she’d met in Dublin.

Jack is drawn to Kate. The problem is, she won't have him. But Jack has always loved a challenge and the intriguing woman from Oz is one he cannot resist.

Harbouring the sting of another man’s betrayal, Kate is certain she wants nothing to do with love and nothing to do with Jack O’Reilly. But when naked torsos, Mother Nature and dysfunctional umbrellas start plotting against her resolve, she realizes the charms of an Irishman are going to be hard to resist.
